Develop new contacts or strengthen existing contacts by the numerous networking opportunities at our special events and monthly networking events.
By participating in one of our active committees you can help create and determine projects for the Chamber and have an opportunity to influence or make a difference in the community.
Have you ever considered joining a committee?
Serving on a committee allows you to meet other chamber members and make a difference in our community. With all these different committees to choose from, there is something for everyone. Please review the list of committees and identify those areas that you have some interest in participating in or contact the chair of the committee you are interested in to finding out more information about the committee’s goals. You are also invited to attend any of the committee’s meeting at any time (please check calendar for dates).
They promote networking and cooperation among members and assist in the recruitment and orientation of new chamber members and in the retention of existing members. Ambassadors welcome new members with a personal visit, delivering their new member packet and plaque and encouraging them to get involved with the chamber.
They are a support group of college students attending any education institutional member of HICC, that may attend Chamber events and participate in committees while gaining professional skills and business contacts that will better connect them to the companies in the Houston Intercontinental area.
Supports and promotes the economic growth and business development of the area internationally. This committee attends and organizes multi-national events and interfaces with the foreign consulates throughout the Houston area and abroad.
Supports and promotes the economic growth and business development of the area. This committee was the catalyst that established the free-port exemption in the North Houston area. The committee is now focused on developing better programs for the energy and freight forwarding industries that are fundamental economic pillars in the Houston Intercontinental area.
Maintains rapport with legislative bodies and area representatives at the local, state and federal level. The committee works to improve general awareness of legislative issues affecting our community and businesses, to educate members on the legislative process for the benefit of their businesses and to coordinate lobbying efforts among members and other chambers, when the chamber adopts a position on an issue. Works with city, county, and state agencies to identify transportation needs within the area and work together to satisfy them.
Works to foster and build upon cooperative relationships with area school districts. The partnerships should provide an arena through which the business community can provide meaningful input to and support for the area schools. Works to recruit and educate the workforce of North Houston Greenspoint. This committee also plans business seminars, teacher appreciation functions and the annual Job Fair hosted by the Chamber.
The task force committees are formed to host an annual fundraising event. These form about 6 months prior to the event and disband once a final recap and review of the event has been conducted.
They include the following:
Starlight Business Awards – Business attire fundraising event held in November to celebrate the Chamber’s year, and award local businesses and leaders for their achievements in the Houston Intercontinental Community.
